Re: Carlton Palmer
Wasn’t Carlton Palmer once described as the worst footballer to ever play for England?

He could run and run and run though. So much so that Moyes would have loved him!

I don’t wish him harm though and hope he slows down now he’s had a warning.

Better to have one at the event than in training, marshalls St Johns and all of that.

Re: Carlton Palmer
I suppose it depends whether he'd still led an active lifestyle or was really sedentary and just tried this with no training on the assumption he'd just be able to do it a la the late Jade Goody and the London marathon.

If the former, then it just goes to show it can happen to any one of us at any time regardless of what shape we are in. fit 55 year olds drop dead from sudden heart attacks, (indeed professional footballers in their 20s and 30s) and 90 year olds run multiple marathons with no issues. It's a lottery, and he's been bloody unlucky.

If it's the latter, then he's a silly boy and he's bloody lucky.

Re: Carlton Palmer
The Marathon came about when the Greeks beat the Persians at the Battle of Marathon… Pheidippides (the messenger) ran the 25 miles to Athens to give them the message that they were victorious … which he did… and then had a cardiac and died on the spot…

Knew a couple of people that died running half marathons…. Including a bloke that I worked with….

Running Marathons is a Mugs game if you ask me…
